Celebrate with Our Lady of Victories Church – the White Temple of Peace – as it marks its centenary on Saturday 26 April 2025, exactly 100 years to the day it was first opened.
Parish Priest Father Jerzy Prucnal invites not only Catholics, but everyone from across the wider community.
RSVPs are essential to attend – with Centenary Day being free.
The Apostolic Nuncio (Pope’s diplomatic representative in Australia) and the Archbishop of Brisbane will attend along with key civic representatives.
Mass starts at 11am – referencing Remembrance Day and Polish National Independence Day.
An historic photo taken on opening day in 1925 will be re-enacted.
Speeches and a cake-cutting ceremony will precede an exciting afternoon festival for all ages, including Polish food/dancing, a professional jazz band featuring Brad Esbensen, exhibition, interactive trails, children’s activities and military jeep display.
’Koki’, the famous bilingual cockatoo hopes to make a special appearance.
Weekend celebrations also include a ’Keep the Blue Cross Shining’ fundraiser event on Anzac Day evening, featuring Warwick Adeney, a last post ceremony, short tour, drink/canapés, and narrative song and imagery.
Centenary Day (exhibition) is proudly supported with funding through the Queensland Government’s Showcasing Queensland Heritage program. Both events are part of the Australian Heritage Festival.
